We reached our goal!!!!!

As of today, Friday, February 26th--post Hope for Haiti Dodgeball Tournament--we have $15,710.60 in the bank!!!  That is more than enough to support 5 Haitian schools for one year each.  We set out to reach a pretty hefty goal and we are proud to say that we reached it and then went beyond!! 

We will be leaving the account open at 5/3rd bank through Wednesday, March 10th.  We continue to encourage community members and students to contribute to the fund so that we can continue to watch it climb before donating it to the Restavek Foundation!  Please feel free to drop by the Middle School to drop off a donation (checks made out to: LMS French Class) or any 5/3rd bank location.

IT'S FINALLY HERE!!!!!!

HELLO LOVELAND!!!!!!!  Today is finally here....the day that we have been awaiting for a whole month....the day of the DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT!!!!  We have prepared and so many loving and kind people have come together to organize this event--we are ready to welcome everyone and to raise the remaining amount needed to support 5 Haitian schools for one whole year!

The LMS Stageband will be performing beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the MS gym and the tournament will begin at 6:30.  Admission is $3 and we have an outstanding raffle with a lot of generously donated items!!  There will be pizza, baked goods, candy, chips, beverages and more.....but most importantly, there will be an energized school building full of people ready to help orphaned Haitian children!  You can park at LMS/LIS and overflow parking will be available in the Grace Church and UMC parking lots on S. Lebanon.  LMS and LIS front doors will be open, as will the doors for either gym.  Payment for admission will be due at each gym door, concessions will be in the cafeteria, and raffle items will be in the LIS lobby, just outside the cafeteria.

PLEASE WEAR RED AND BLUE!!!!  We are looking for as many people as possible to wear red or blue to support our cause--those are the colors of the Haitian flag!

Newest Updates

1) We have $9057.71 !!!  That is enough to cover THREE schools for one year each!!  We are well on our way to our $15,000 goal!

2)  The DB tournament is just 2 days away....come join us at LMS for an evening of family fun and fund raising!  The LMS Stageband will begin performing at 6:00 and the tournament will get underway around 6:30.  All parent and staff volunteers need to come to the LMS cafeteria at 5:45 on Thursday evening to get a "station" assignment.  We will have concessions including pizza and homemade baked goods, a raffle with all sorts of wonderful prizes donated by community members, a half time show, and a customized trophy for the winner of the tournament!   Admission at the door will be $3/person.  Overflow parking will be available in the parking lots of the Grace Church and the UMC on S. Lebanon Road. Come join us!!!

3)  We could still use donations of items for the concessions--bottled water, Capri Suns, juice, soda etc. (no 2-liters, please!), chips, and candy.  If you have something to donate, please bring it to the LMS circle desk by Thursday morning.

4)  All DB players need to remember to get their waiver form signed by a parent or guardian and returned to Mrs. Pecsok by Thursday afternoon OR YOU MAY NOT PLAY IN THE TOURNAMENT!  Your team captain has a copy of the bracket and brackets will be posted on the walls of the gyms.  You need to remember to create a team name and uniform and be ready to play with good sportsmanship.  All players need to arrive by 6:00 on the night of the tournament.  Any questions in the meantime?  Ask Mr. Sievering or Mrs. Pecsok!

Got Helium??

We are looking for helium tanks to use for our balloon decorating the afternoon of the tournament....anyone out there have helium tanks we could borrow??  If so, contact Mrs. Pecsok at: pecsokhi@lovelandschools.org!

Several thank yous go out to....

It has been a busy few days in the campaign!  First of all....we have $8,214.21 in the bank!!!!  This is absolutely tremendous!!!  We are now well on our way to supporting our THIRD school for a year...we are only $785.79 shy of doing so!  Let's keep it going.....

In the meantime, let's say thank you to:

• 7th grader, Ellie's dad, for donating all the Gatorade, cups, and large orange thermoses to supply our DB players with delicious and quenching beverage the night of the game!!

 

• 8th grader, Will's mom, who secured the parking lots of the Grace Church and the United Methodist Church on S. Lebanon Road for overflow parking the night of the DB tournament.

• 8th grader, Kayla, who donated the entire contents of her coin collection!

• The anonymous donor who placed a $50 bill and a $20 bill in the coin collection container in Mr. Lawrence's room this week.

• Mrs. Steward's Tiger Time class for setting a collective goal of contributing $200 to the fund--they met that goal this past Thursday!

• Mr. Sievering for spending a great deal of time creating the brackets for the DB tournament and planning the basketball shoot out for half time.

• Mr. Sharpless and the members of guitar club, as well as Mr. Maegly and  the LMS Stageband, who have been practicing diligently to learn music to play at the half time show. 

• Courtney, the LHS tiger mascot, for agreeing to join us at the DB tournament!!

•  The LMS cheerleaders--7th and 8th grade, football and basketball--for practicing extra time to prepare to cheer at the tournament!

When was your last family portrait? For the month of February DONNA ERNST PHOTOGRAPHY will donate 100% of the proceeds from your photo session to the "Loveland Middle School French Class!!"

The price for a studio photo session, with online proofs, is $45. You can update your walls and help the children of Haiti. If you would like to schedule an appointment for your photo session please call 289-8138 or email donna@dernstphoto.com. You will recieve a tax deductible recipt for your contribution.

1) We have $6983.71 in the bank--only $16.29 away from $7000!

2) We are in need of items to raffle at our DB tournament!!  Have connections to restaurants or local businesses that would be willing to give a gift card?  Do you have a service you provide that you would be willing to raffle?  Do you have a special talent or craft that you could create to raffle?  We are still in need of some great prizes--put your thinking caps on, ask your network, and send the ideas and prizes our way!  We need all prizes by Tuesday, February 23rd!  Please contact Mrs. Pecsok at: pecsokhi@lovelandschools.org.

3) If you volunteered to provide concessions or baked goods:  All drinks, chips, etc. for the concessions will be due in Mrs. Pecsok's room by Monday, February 22nd.  All fresh baked good items will be due on Wednesday, February 24th.
